Have you had someone else review your resume?
It is very important to have a fresh set of eyes look over your resume and cover letter before sending it off to a prospective employer. Another set of eyes can look over your resume to catch glaring spelling or grammar errors that slipped through the spell checker. You did spell check your resume, didn't you? Hopefully you also followed some of the advice in the resume writing article here.
However the value of another person looking over your resume goes beyond checking spelling and grammar which you should do before handing it to anyone else. A fresh set of eyes can help you to see how someone who is more objective reads and understands what you are trying to communicate. They can also point out things that may be missing from the resume or things that you've put in but shouldn't have.
You don't need to pay anyone to review your resume, you can simply ask a trusted friend or family member to review your resume. If your friend or family member is experienced in hiring people they may also be able to alert for some of the things that they have found in their experience that have prevented people from putting forth their best presentation of themselves and their strengths thereby reducing their likelihood of getting an interview.
However, if you would like Jeff Sturgeon, an experienced recruiter and ministry leader, to review your resume and offer an critique and suggestions of your resume you may purchase a resume review below.
